Safety Wire

Safety wire is used for many parts of the airplane, as well as for your the engine. A recommendation is to get a one pound container each of the three most commonly used stainless safety wire varieties, which are 20, 32 and 41 thousanths of an inch. To get all three from Aircraft Spruce costs about $25-30. Most commonly used is 032.

A pair of SafetyWirePliers is usually the easiest way to wire a part and nine inch pliers are commonly used. Regular pliers can be used, too, but it takes practice to do it safely.
