Corvair Push Rods

Mark Langford explains how to determine what one's valve train geometry should be on a lengthy page with pictures on his website. His approach was to use Clarks' valve train geometry kit. The kit comes with two adjustable pushrods and two solid lifters. The push rods allow one to sequentially replace the hydraulic lifters with solid ones for each of the cylinders. Mark's explanation is thorough and includes information about RollerRockers, too.

Corvair engine push rods are not the same length, so some care is needed when reassembling a Corvair engine if there is any suspicion that the push rods are not original to that engine.

Smith Brothers Pushrods in Bend OR will make custom pushrods for Corvair engines. Marty Scarr reports that they make a quality product.

ClarksCorvairParts has an extensive catalogue of Corvair parts.
