Ordering From Non Aviation Suppliers
WilliamWynne advises that when on the phone with non-aviation suppliers like Sum mit Rac ing, or any other large parts warehouses, do
NOT tell them that you are building a plane on the phone or via email in the course of ordering your part or during follow-up afterwards. They will permanently refuse to sell you stuff.
Clarks and the other
Corvair suppliers know what we are up to, but the big chains have a very strict
No Aviation policy. They don't make an issue of it unless you inform them. This is probably for reasons of litigation prevention - see
SiteWarning. Order takers' may personally think flying is great, but you don't want to put the person in a position of losing their job.
Note:
A list of safe Corvair suppliers would be useful
