Nason switch

The purpose of the nason switch is to prevent a pilot from burning to death rather than shutting off the engine if the oil pressure dips below 5 PSI. The nason switch also controls low oil pressure.

WilliamWynne has posted extensively on issues of safety and strongly recommends the use of a nason switch.

One of the problems faced in aircraft crashes in general aviation aircraft is that in the final moments before impact, few people remember to kill the master switch. A common result is that fuel spills and circuits are live, leading to increased risk of fire.
