MA-3 SPA Carburetor

The MA-3 is the most commonly used carburetor, by a long margin, for Corvair engines.

DanWeseman lists these as the advantages of the MA-3:

  • No primer needed - just give a pump of the throttle, hit the button and its runs
  • Has real mixture control
  • Seems to provide good balance between cylinders
Compares well to the StrombergCarburetor

JimWickert lists these advantages:

  • It is a very easy carb to set up. Set it and forget it.
  • No leaks and basic simple design. WilliamWynne recommends the MA-3SPA 10-4894 as being the correct model to use on the Corvair.
