Dan Weseman

Dan is an experienced Corvair engine builder who also manufactures a FifthBearing for the Corvair engine. He flies an aircraft he calls 'the Cleanex', which is a Sonex airframe from the firewall back and the powerplant is a WilliamWynne style 3100cc Corvair engine with a custom cowling. To improve the service life and strength of the Corvair crankshaft an additional bearing on the front of the engine was added. Dan's design is one of several 5th bearing designs, and the Corvair news list rates his design as effective. At the end of 2009, he reported online his 5th bearing had accumulated over 1000 "fleet" flight hrs during the course of 2009, with several planes doing over 200 hrs.

Dan also provides a range of items to build a Corvair powered Sonex like his Cleanex. He provides engine mounts, cowls, intakes, exhausts, oil systems and engine cooling baffles for the Sonex.
